Keeping your body HEALTHY

Hey friends,

Having a healthy body is so incredibly important to our overall health and happiness, so this is a short overview of what a healthy body looks and feels like, and some tips on keeping our bodies healthy. There is a lot more information then what we are able to include on this page so keep learning from our health and nutrition blogs and stay proactive in learning for yourself. We love hearing your voice and encourage you to share your own information and tips in our comment area below. Here we go!!!

A healthy body is a loved body! I used to think that if I just got mad enough at myself and hated my body enough it would change into what I wanted it to be out of shear fear. Man was I wrong! You know how stressful it is to be in the same room with someone you know is mad at you? Well, try sharing a body with that person! My body was so stressed out that it wouldn’t do anything I wanted it to, and that just made me even more upset! It is important to love our bodies even if they haven’t lost the weight, or our faces are breaking out, or they can’t do what they used to. We should be the first to complement and encourage our bodies, not tear our bodies down. With that being said, here are some practical tips for championing your own health.

A Healthy Body Needs:

1.  Mental Health: memory, positive thinking, learning new things
2.  Cardiovascular Health: cardio exercise, nutrient rich food
3.  Muscular & Bone Health: Resistance training, stability exercises, water,   calcium, rich greens, protein, change.
4.  Skin Health: Water, nutrient rich food, vitamins & minerals
5.  Digestive Health: Water, fiber, nutrient rich food, no over loading

I can’t tell you how often I hear someone say, “I just want to be healthy”, but what does a healthy body look and feel like? There is a lot that goes into being healthy. The choices we make everyday effect our health, both positively and negatively. One very important thing I want to say is that when it comes to health there is no such thing as a “diet”. A diet is something you do for a short amount of time, and then you go back to whatever you were doing before. The very nature of a diet is that it eventually comes to an end. Being healthy has to be a lifestyle! When being healthy is your lifestyle it’s normal to eat nutritious food and stay active. It would be unusual for a healthy person to eat something greasy or miss a workout.

Basic ingredients that make up a healthy lifestyle:

  1. consuming nutrient rich food, minimizing sugar, processed food and greasy fat
  2. Exercising regularly, 3-5 times a week for at least 30 min
  3. Stretching regularly, 20 min 3 times a week
  4. drinking lots of water, 8-10 glasses per day
  5. Getting enough sleep, 6-8 hours per night
  6. living life active, taking walks or hiking/biking with a friend

A healthy lifestyle is an active lifestyle!

Believe it or not, one of the most valuable skills to learn in order to experience what a healthy lifestyle looks and feels like is CELEBRATION. We are designed to be celebrated and our bodies are no exeption. As we learn the truth about who we are we can begin to recognize progress rather than focus on failure and defeat. This is a key to growing in our physically health. The trap we have to watch out for is supporting a mindset that only celebrates perfection. We must choose not to base a picture of perfection by comparing our bodies to others. As we learn to celebrate the process it empowers us to take on the challenges. Before we know it, what once looked difficult or impossible now has become an exciting opportunity to love our bodies and enjoy life to the fullest. That’s what we are after. That’s what a healthy lifestyle looks and feels like. That’s what you and I are created for.

“Today is the best day to live healthy lifestyles and tomorrow only gets better.”
